Converting a qualified lead turns it into a customer, and if you like a contact and a deal, in one step. Only an open lead can be converted; reopen a disqualified one first.

  1. Open the lead and click Convert. Only an open lead can be converted.
  2. Under Customer, pick a customer that looks like the lead, or create a new one. A CVR match would be chosen for you.
  3. Create a contact for Jonas Brink is ticked because the lead names a person.
  4. Untick it and a warning says the name, email and phone will be removed and kept nowhere.
  5. Tick it again to keep the person as a contact.
  6. Tick Open a deal, choose a pipeline and an estimated value. The deal takes the lead's title and the first live step.
  7. Click Convert.
  8. You land on the new company: Jonas Brink is its primary contact (it had none), and the deal is open on Qualified.
  9. Back on the lead: it is Converted, links to the customer, and no longer holds the person's name, email or phone.

The lead always loses its person

Conversion always removes the person's name, email and phone from the lead. With a contact, they move to the new contact. Without one, they are deleted and kept nowhere. CRM warns you when you untick the contact: "Without a contact, the name, email and phone on this lead are removed when it is converted, and are not kept anywhere."

What conversion creates

  • A new customer starts as Prospect.
  • The new contact becomes the primary contact only if the company has none yet.
  • The deal takes the lead's title and the first live step of the pipeline you chose.
  • The lead becomes Converted, shows the customer it went to, and says "A deal was opened." if you made one. It can no longer be changed.

When conversion is refused

  • "Choose a customer, or create a new one."
  • "Reopen the lead before converting it."
  • "An archived customer already holds this CVR, so a new customer cannot be created with it. It is now selected below: convert into it, or restore it from its page first."
  • "A deal needs a pipeline with at least one step. Define one in Management first."
