Open a deal on a company, move it through the steps, set the outcome and read the forecast.

A deal is something you are selling to a company. It stands on a step of a sales process, and its value times the step's likelihood is its weighted value in the forecast. Deals live in the Deals panel on the company page.
1/7In the Deals panel, click Open a deal.
- In the Deals panel, click Open a deal.
- Say what it is, pick the process and step, and add a value if anyone has estimated one. Empty is not zero.
- Click Open the deal.
- The deal shows with its weighted value: value times the step's likelihood. Click Details.
- Choose a step under Move to step and click Move.
- The move is added to What happened.
- The table now shows the new step and weighted value.
Open a deal
- On the company page, click Open a deal in the Deals panel.
- Fill in What is it (required), Process and Step.
- Add a Value if someone has estimated it. Leave it empty otherwise: empty is not zero. An un-estimated deal is left out of the weighted total and counted beside it.
- Add Expected close, Up against (a competitor) and Owner. Owner is a plain text box; type a name.
- Click Open the deal.
If no sales process with a live step exists, CRM says so and you cannot open a deal; ask an administrator (see Sales processes, steps and loss reasons).
Work a deal
Click Details on the row.
- Move to step: choose the step and click Move.
- Set the outcome: Open, Won or Lost, then Save the outcome. Lost asks Why it was lost when the workspace has loss reasons.
- What happened lists every move, oldest first, with the step names as they were then.
- CRM Administrators can Take out of the forecast and Put back into the forecast. A deal out of the forecast cannot be changed until it is put back.
- Close folds the details away.
A deal cannot be edited after it is opened
There is no edit button. Once a deal is open, its name, value, expected close and owner stay as typed. Only the step and the outcome change. If something is wrong, set the outcome and open a new deal.
Reading the panel
- Columns: Deal, Step (name and percentage), Value, Weighted, Expected close, Outcome and Details. The outcome is plain text, not a chip.
- Under the table, "Weighted total on this page" and the number of deals with no value. These figures describe only the deals shown, not the company's total.
- Filter with Outcome (All by default) and Include retired; Show more loads more.
- Amounts are in the company's currency; a deal has no currency of its own.
Recording acceptance of a quote linked to an open deal marks the deal Won. See Quotes. Tasks on a deal show in its details as Tasks on this deal.
