What other products see when you merge or archive
A merge redirects every mirror; an archive hides the company everywhere.
Because Helpdesk and AMS mirror CRM's companies, merging or archiving a company in CRM changes what they see too.
Merging
- The disappearing company becomes a redirect to the survivor. Every product that mirrors the customer follows the redirect, so tickets, assets and other work attached to the old record now point at the survivor.
- "There is no undo. Nothing in the customer master reverses a merge, and every product that mirrors this customer will follow the redirect."
- An old link to the merged company opens "This company was merged into another record" with Open the surviving account.
- A draft quote on the merged company cannot be sent; delete it and create it again on the survivor. Tasks cannot be added to it either.
How to merge is in Finding and merging duplicate companies.
Archiving
- The company "stops being offered for new work and leaves the account list, in this product and in every product that mirrors the customer master."
- Its contacts, its parent link and everything written against it stay exactly as they are.
- Restore brings it back everywhere.
How to archive is in Archiving and restoring a company.
A company AMS takes back
AMS can take back a company it created by mistake, if nothing else uses it. See Where a company came from.
