"No employee record" and other access messages
What each access message means and who can fix it.
HCM tells you plainly when you cannot use a page. Here is what each message means, and who can fix it.
| Message | Meaning | Who fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| "No employee record - contact HR" with "Your account isn't linked to an employee record yet, so leave can't be requested. Ask an HR administrator to link your account." | You have an HCM role, but HR has not linked your sign-in account to your employee record. | An HR administrator, with Linked account on your record. |
| "No employee record is linked to your account, so there's nothing to request leave for yet." | The same, shown in the request form. | An HR administrator. |
| "You don't have access" with "Your account doesn't have permission to view this page. Ask an HR administrator to check your organization role." | You have no HCM role, or not the role this page needs. A Tenant Admin without an HCM role sees this on every page. | A Tenant Admin, in the Tenant Portal. See Granting HCM access. |
| "You don't have access" on a request's approval timeline | Employees cannot see approval timelines in the October 2026 release. The status is still correct. | Nobody; this is expected. |
| "Employee not found" with "This employee record doesn't exist, or you don't have access to it." | The record was removed, or the link is from another workspace. | Check the workspace name in the top bar. |
| "No workspaces" | Your account is not a member of any workspace. | An administrator must invite you. |
| "Couldn't load your leave data" (or your approvals, employees, the team calendar, settings, your documents) | HCM could not reach its server. | Reload. If it lasts, contact your administrator. |
| "No employee record for this user." | A request was sent from an account with no employee record. | An HR administrator. |
Tip
Just been given a role? It can take up to about 5 minutes to reach HCM. Wait, then reload.
