Flexshop and the line manager

How Flexshop asks HCM who should approve an order as Manager, and what to fix when it cannot tell.

Who can do thisHR AdministratorFlexshop administrator

Flexshop orders can have a "Manager" approval step. Flexshop does not keep its own org chart: it asks HCM who the person's line manager is, today, one level up.

PictureHow Flexshop finds the approver for its Manager step. Each reason has a fix in HCM.

How it works

  1. An employee places an order in Flexshop.
  2. Flexshop asks HCM for the line manager of the person's sign-in account.
  3. HCM finds the employee linked to that account and reads their current manager.
  4. HCM answers with the manager, or with a reason why it cannot.
  5. Flexshop routes the Manager step to that person.

When HCM cannot name a manager

Flexshop's approval-flow tester shows the reason in its own words. HCM checks them in this order:

Flexshop saysWhat to fix in HCM
"The requester has no employee record in the HR system."Link the person's sign-in account to their employee record (Linked account), or add them as an employee.
"The HR system names no manager for the requester."Record a Manager change in the person's history.
"The requester's manager has left, so the org chart is out of date."The manager is terminated. Give the person a new manager in their history.
"The requester's manager has no Juvaro account yet."Give the manager a sign-in account, or link the one they have.
"Could not check the HR system, so the line manager is unknown."HCM could not be reached. Try again later.

Good to know

  • Flexshop reads today's manager. A manager change dated in the future takes effect on that date.
  • Only the direct manager is used, one level up. Flexshop does not use HCM's approval rules.
  • Keep the history up to date: the same manager data drives the org chart and leave approval.
