Correcting a history period
Fix a period that was recorded wrong with Correct, Valid from and Valid to.
Who can do thisHR Administrator
Use Correct when a period was recorded wrong: a typo in a job title, the wrong department, or the wrong start date. A correction changes the existing period. To record something that really changed on a date, use Record change instead; see Recording a change in History.

Read the period cards
- Each card starts with the period, for example "01/09/2025 - present". The period in force today has a violet border and "• current".
- The second line shows job title, department and manager.
- The third line shows the change type, "recorded by" and the note. "recorded by" shows the user id of the person who made the change, a long code, rather than their name.
- The last line shows the salary, or "🔒 Restricted". An amber "• out of band" means the amount is outside the grade's band.
- Rows can also show "Hire" (the first period) and "Correction".
Correct a period
- Open the employee, click Edit and find the period under Assignment history.
- Click Correct on its card. The button turns into Cancel.
- Change Valid from, Valid to (blank = open), the job, department and manager fields, or the salary and grade.
- Click Save correction.
- The same checks apply as when recording a change: reporting cycles, the grade band and same-workspace references.
- The panel reloads after every write. If someone else changed the timeline in the meantime, your correction may be refused; reload and try again.
