Cancelling a leave request
Which requests you can cancel, and what the messages mean when you cannot.

You can cancel your own request while it is waiting, and an approved one as long as it has not started.
Viewing the approval timeline requires a manager or admin role. Your request's status above is still accurate.
Cancel a request
- On My Leave, click the request under My requests.
- In the card that opens, click Cancel request.
There is no confirmation. The status changes to "cancelled", and the days are free again.
Cancel request is shown for "pending" requests, and for "approved" requests whose start date is after today.
When you cannot cancel
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "This leave has already started and cannot be cancelled." | Ask HR to sort it out. |
| "This leave request was rejected and cannot be cancelled." | A rejected request holds no days, so there is nothing to cancel. |
| "This leave request is already cancelled." | Reload the page. |
| "This leave request's approval just resolved - refresh and try again." | Your manager decided it at the same moment. Reload and look at the new status. |
The approval timeline says "You don't have access"
When an employee opens a request, the card shows the type and dates, but the timeline area says "You don't have access" and "Viewing the approval timeline requires a manager or admin role. Your request's status above is still accurate." That is expected: in the October 2026 release only managers and HR can read approval timelines. The status in My requests is correct.
A request that needed no approval says "This request was auto-approved - no approval chain to show."
