HR Management: line managers for Manager steps
What the HR Management connection does in Flexshop, and what happens without it.
HR Management (HCM) is Juvaro's HR product. In Flexshop it has one job: to find each employee's line manager, so a Manager step goes to the right person.
Switch it on or off
On SETUPIntegrations, the HR Management card has one switch. "Only if your company runs an HR system. It finds the line manager of each employee." It is off in a new workspace: "Not every company has one, so this stays off by default."
- Connected: "Approval flows can now send a Manager step to the requester's line manager."
- Not in use: "Without it a Manager step goes to the approver named on the budget group, then to the fallback approver set in Approval flows. Nothing else in Flexshop depends on it."
Changing it needs Application Administrator and Workspace Administrator. Switching it off is refused if that would leave a Manager step with nobody: "Disconnecting would leave at least one Manager step with nobody to approve it."
What it reads
Only the line manager. Flexshop does not read departments, cost centres, start dates or leave from HR Management, and writes nothing to it. People in Flexshop come from the platform, not from HR Management.
When HR Management cannot answer
The Try it tester on Approval flows names the problem:
- "The requester has no employee record in the HR system."
- "The HR system names no manager for the requester."
- "The requester's manager has left, so the org chart is out of date."
- "The requester's manager has no Juvaro account yet."
- "Could not check the HR system, so the line manager is unknown."
In each case Flexshop falls back to the group's approver, then the fallback approver. See Who approves: roles and the Manager step. Line managers themselves are kept in HR Management.
