Edit a product

Name, description, price, specifications, In the box, visibility and who may request it.

Press Edit on a Storefront row to open the drawer Edit product. What you can change depends on where the product comes from.

PictureEditing a product. An edited name or text is left alone by the hourly sync until you press Use Webmercs name or Use Webmercs text.

The fields

FieldNotes
Name and DescriptionFor a Webmercs product each carries a tag: From Webmercs or Edited. While the name or text is edited, the hourly sync leaves it alone. Use Webmercs name and Use Webmercs text hand it back to the webshop. The description is at most 2000 characters.
Brand and Vendor product numberFor a Webmercs product: "Brand and number follow the webshop." For a product you added by hand you type them. Without a vendor product number, a request for it must be ordered by hand.
CategoryOne of the five fixed categories.
Price"Enter a price to save. Type 0 only if the item really is free." A free item never passes a rule that approves small amounts automatically; it goes to the next rule.
Last paid priceShown for Bought before products, with the date; flagged when it was paid over a year ago.
SpecificationsRows of Label and Value, at most 20 rows (label at most 40 characters, value at most 120). Add a row; move rows up and down; remove a row. "Shown as a list in the pop-up. The first three values also show as tags on the card."
In the boxUp to 20 lines of at most 120 characters. Add a line.
Visible to employeesThe same as Listed and Hidden on the list.
Who may request itEvery employee or Only these budget groups. With no group ticked: "No group is chosen, so no employee will see this product."

Press Save.

When saving fails

  • "This product was changed by someone else since the page loaded. Nothing was saved; check it and try again." Reload, look at the other person's change, and edit again.
  • "No budget group exists yet. Create one on the Budgets & groups screen first." You picked Only these budget groups before any group exists; see Budgets and groups.
Picture uploads

Where your workspace has picture uploads, the drawer also has a Picture field: PNG, JPEG or WebP, at most 5 MB. Otherwise it says "Picture uploads are not available in this workspace." A Webmercs picture is shown only when the webshop's picture is public.
