Test your rules with Try it

Ask the tester which rule a request would hit and whether anybody can approve it.

The tester Try it sits at the top of Approval flows. It tells you which rule a request would hit and whether anybody can actually approve it, without sending anything.

PictureWhat Try it can answer. A warning means a real request of that kind would get stuck.

Run a test

  1. Fill in the sentence: "A request for" an amount "in" a category "from" a person "in group" a group.
  2. Tick with a free Storefront item or with a product bought before to test those cases. Both skip auto-approval by amount.
  3. Read the answer under the bar.

The answers

  • "Rule {number}" with the rule's name and its chain of steps.
  • "Auto-approved, nobody is asked."
  • "No rule matches, so the fallback chain below applies." The fallback is a Supporter step.

The warnings

A warning means a real request like this would get stuck:

  • "Nobody holds {role}, so this chain cannot be approved as it stands." Give someone that role in the Tenant Portal.
  • "Only the requester holds {role}, and nobody may approve their own request, so this chain cannot be approved as it stands." Give the role to a second person.
  • "Nobody resolves as Manager for this request, so this chain cannot be approved as it stands." Name an approver on the group, or a fallback approver.
  • "The only Manager found for this request is the requester, …" The person is their own group's approver.
  • With HR Management connected: "The HR system names no manager for the requester.", "The requester's manager has left, so the org chart is out of date.", "The requester's manager has no Juvaro account yet." and "Could not check the HR system, so the line manager is unknown."

Saving a rule re-runs the test, so you see the effect of your change at once.
