Move a wrongly created asset to Deleted assets, and learn what stops a delete.
Delete is for an asset that should never have been created: a duplicate, a typo in the type or model, a test record. It moves the asset to Deleted assets, from where an Application Administrator can restore it.
Restore assets deleted by mistake, or delete them permanently.

On the asset created by mistake, click Delete.
Confirm with Delete. The text says an administrator can restore it.
The asset leaves the list, and a message names the tag that moved to Deleted assets.
Later, an Application Administrator opens Administration, Deleted assets, and clicks Restore.
The asset is back in the register, and its row leaves Deleted assets.
WalkthroughDelete and restore: Delete moves the asset to Deleted assets, where an Application Administrator can Restore it.
Delete an asset
Open the asset and click Delete, the red button in the header.
Read Delete this asset?: "This moves the asset to Deleted assets. An administrator can restore it from there."
Click Delete.
You return to the list with the message "‹tag› was moved to Deleted assets."
If the asset came from a connected system, such as a device-management sync, the dialog warns that it will be created again on the next sync unless you remove it there.
When Delete is refused
An asset with real history cannot be deleted. Dispose of it or return it instead. AMS says why:
The asset...
What to do
has been disposed of or returned
Nothing: its history is kept. (The Delete button is hidden on such assets.)
has dispose or return requests on record, decided ones included
Keep it; its history is kept.
is on a lease
If it was added by mistake, take it off the lease; otherwise return it.
has work orders on record, closed ones included
Dispose of or return it. If the work orders belong to another asset, move them there.
has a completed compliance check
Dispose of or return it, or move the check to the right asset.
has reservations on record, cancelled and returned ones included
Dispose of or return it, or move the reservations.
is named in an onboarding or offboarding flow
Dispose of or return it.
was scanned in an audit
Dispose of or return it.
A brand-new asset's automatic warranty and its open (never completed) checks do not block a delete.
