The welcome guide and workspace mode
Choose Simple or Advanced when a workspace starts, and run the welcome guide again later.
A brand-new workspace opens on the Welcome to Asset Management guide: three short steps that set how much AMS shows and point you at the first things to set up.
The three steps
- Welcome. A short introduction to the register. Click Next.
- How much should this workspace show? Choose Simple or Advanced.
- Simple: the essentials: assets, software, people, maintenance, with one-click disposal. Every switchable feature starts off.
- Advanced: the full governance set: four-eyes approvals, budgets, compliance, audits, lifecycle rules, automation. Everything starts on except Customers (MSP).
- Get set up. A checklist whose links take you straight there: Create your first asset type, Add an asset, Import existing records from a spreadsheet, Review notification defaults and, marked Optional, Create an onboarding package. Click Finish.
The mode is only a starting point. Every feature can be switched on or off later, one by one. See Feature switches.

Welcome to Asset Management
Step 2 of 3
How much should this workspace show?
This sets the starting point for the whole tenant. Every feature can be switched individually later under Administration → Workspace: hiding a surface never touches its data.
Simple
The essentials: assets, software, people, maintenance, with one-click disposal. Switch anything on later.
AdvancedCurrent mode
The full governance set: four-eyes approvals, budgets, compliance, audits, lifecycle rules, automation.
Run the guide again
- Open AdministrationWorkspace.
- Click Run the welcome guide again.
Workspaces that existed before the guide was introduced were set to Advanced and never saw it.
