Edit an asset
Change an asset's details after it is created; the tag stays as it is.
You can change an asset's details at any time after it is created. Its tag, type and model stay as they are.
Edit an asset
- Open the asset and click Edit in the header.
- Change what you need on Assignment & status, Financial and Details.
- Click Save.
What you cannot change here
- Asset tag: read-only. "The asset tag cannot be changed after the asset is created." Labels and scans keep working because of this.
- Type and Model: fixed after creation. If they are wrong, delete the asset and create it again; see Delete an asset by mistake.
- Status: the stage is changed with Change state, which checks the lifecycle rules.
Good to know
- A custom field that points at an asset now in Deleted assets does not stop you saving other changes.
- Every change is recorded in the asset's History.
