Models
Group identical units under a model with a manufacturer, a list price and specs.
A model groups identical units under one shared specification, for example Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 under the type Laptop. Every asset has a type and a model.
Create a model
- Open AdministrationModels.
- Click New model.
- Pick the Type, and fill in Name, Manufacturer (AMS suggests names from its catalogue), List price with its Currency, Expected life (months) and Specs (comma-separated).
- Click Save.
A model page has the tabs General and Procurement & finance, any model-level custom fields, and a Units table of the assets of that model.
Add a unit from the model
On the model page, click Add unit. The New asset form opens with the type and model already chosen. See Create an asset.
The asset form only offers types that have models. If the type picker says "No asset types with models yet", create a model first.
The manufacturer is also part of the generated asset tag: a Lenovo laptop gets a tag such as LAP-LENOVO-K7M2QX9BTF.
